The Fleur-de-Lis is a stylized design of an iris flower which is used has been used both decoratively and symbolically, ornamentally as well as politically throughout the ages.
The Fleur-de-Lis is an enduring symbol of France but is particularly regarded most notably as the emblem of the French monarchy. In North America the fleur-de-lis is often associated with areas formerly settled by France, such as Louisiana and Quebec.
It appears on many military insignia as well as the logos of many different organizations. During the 20th century the Fleur-de-Lis was adopted by various Scouting organizations worldwide for their badges.
